Tori is 6 months old! Wahoo! Well she's almost 7 months now but this post is all about her turning 6 months. I'm just a few weeks behind! :)
Anyways she turned 6 months old on December 29th. She spent the day being incredibly sick, as did I. We both had a horrible cold for about 10 days right after Christmas. Having a sick baby is quite possibly the worst thing in the world. There is nothing you can do for them! Tori had her 6 month check up on the 30th. She was 24.75 inches long and weighed 12lb 7oz. Still a tiny little girl for her age. The doctor congratulated me on sticking with breastfeeding even with all of Tori's weight issues and she said Tori was one of the strongest, healthiest 6 month olds she had seen in a while which is always nice to hear! We talked about solids and we were going to start them on the 31st but Tori and I were both too sick to mess with it. I was kind of bummed about it, but knew it was best to start solids when Tori was feeling better and when I felt like making the food.
So, we started solids the following Monday, January 3rd. Tori's first food was sweet potatoes which she LOVES! We are making all of her babyfood! It is super easy and is saving us quite a bit of money. After the sweet potatoes we did avacado, then homemade rice cereal, bananas, and pears. So far she has liked everything except the cereal, but we are going to try that again soon. Her favorite is either sweet potatoes or pears. Starting solids should help with her weight a little bit. After a week of being on them I had the opportunity to weigh her at group and she weighed 12lb 12oz! She will be weighed this coming Monday too so I am anxious to see!
Oh and Tori's teeth are starting to come in! On December 19th we noticed a white spot on the top left part of her gums. Here we are nearly a month later and it still hasn't come in, but its working its way down. She has really been gnawing on things, so I think some others are close. The doctor said her gums felt pretty hard and predicted that once her teeth start popping through that shes going to get alot all at once.
Tori has also been sitting up on her own. This just happened all the sudden one day. I put her on the bed while I was getting ready in the morning and when I looked back she was still sitting and ever since then she will sit for extended periods of time. It was right after her 6 month checkup because I remember the doctor asking if she was sitting unsupported and I said no, but when the doctor put her in a sitting position she didn't topple over! The little stinker!
Well, enough rambling, here are some pictures!
This was her first bite ever. It is as if shes saying "Daddy what is mommy shoving in my mouth?"
Yummy!
You can tell her hand is all messy too. If you don't feed her fast enough she helps by grabbing the spoon and jamming it into her mouth. If she can't reach the spoon she settles for grunting and kicking her feet.
This was her first time eating in public and sitting in a highchair while we were out to eat. Also she is doing the whole spoon grabbing thing here...guess I was too slow!
This was technically a few days after she turned 6 months since she was sick on her actual 6 month birthday. Such a happy face!
Holding the sign. The older she gets the squirmier she gets and in turn the harder these pictures are to take!
She was really happy this night, so we took lots of pictures! This is probably my favorite from the night!
Showing off her sitting skills after we did the 6 month pictures!
She loves this little baseball toy. The second she sees it her eyes light up and she rolls to wherever it is!
Trying to chew on the bat for the toy...I guess we have some work to do to get her to play ball.
I am proud of myself...it has been three weeks and I have managed to stick with my goal of posting once a week! I am three for three! Wahoo!
Thanks for checking in!
